Hello! I’m Brooke, Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) and owner of Compass Speech Language Services LLC. I am located in Clarkston, Michigan, and I provide speech language therapy services to northern Oakland County.
I have a passion for working alongside people that have speech, language, and cognitive-communication impairments. I aspire to raise awareness of speech language therapy within my communities, and be a voice for those that need support.
Though I am a Michigan native, I graduated from Massey University in Auckland, New Zealand in 2014 with my Bachelors in Speech Language Therapy. I am currently a certified member of the American Speech Hearing Association (ASHA) and hold my Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC). Through the Mutual Recognition Agreement, ASHA recognizes my bachelors degree as substantially equivalent to a Master’s degree earned in the United States. I also hold a Michigan Speech Language Therapy license.
I have been blessed with opportunities to work at a variety of different settings including hospitals, inpatient rehab, home care, skilled nursing facilities, and pediatric outpatient clinics. I love helping my clients on their rehabilitation journey!
My recent work experience has primarily been with adults, however I have a passion for child speech and language. Before I became a SLP, I was a nanny and a ski instructor. I loved working with kids and knew it was something I wanted to continue to do. I have had clinical education experience in schools, clinics, and feeding groups.
Others tell me that my love and passion for my job is evident in the therapy that I deliver. My therapy style is relaxed, but intentional. I want my clients to enjoy speech therapy, but also find it challenging at just the right level. Therapy should be fun AND functional.
